Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

I pass them on as Rock mixes. That way I'm not contributing crappy birds to a delaware gene pool. I get price depending on size and sometimes whim. Three to six dollars is common. Usually I have someone who wants the whole wad of them for "x". And I take it. I make most of my money on the pet bantams I sell. LOL. Cheap to buy, cheap to breed, brood like mad things and sell like hot cakes.

I just sell them with bulletin board ads at the feedstore and as culls to BYCers who aren't as picky as me about the standard. The girls make fabulous layers, no matter what they look like. I gave away two really nice looking cockerels, but I informed the man who wanted them that they were too fiesty for me, temperament-wise. Wonder if he still has them.

Rustyswoman,
I would call that look patronizing- I used to get it from my horse when I was a kid. . . .

You know, I think I am going to keep mine longer than I thought, if I possibly can. If some of the roos get obnoxious, I will do the feed store sign, or list them on BYC, since that seems to work for Cyn and others, but I want to wait as long as possible to see what happens. Will they do a full molt in the spring? There are feathers and fluff all over the brooder the last couple of days, so I am wondering if there will be some new markings showing up soon.

Hence the reason I am trying to put on 20 pounds or so myself. gonna need it to pick up that big baby.

Joletabey that Orp Stink Eye is indeed a nasty thing. I have noticed that they do not like change...at least these 2 do not. When I put the new waterer in there with Thor and his girls....oh NO ONE was going near it until Thor checked it out. He walked all around here, snuck up on the unsuspecting thing and tagged it so it knew who boss was, then he tasted the water and gave the women the Okay. hahahaha Had Thor allowed it, Cannonball and Fattie would have been all over the waterer the minute it went in there...curious little things.

I wish I had a video of Ultrasuede pacing around - I don't know who got the bigger stink eye - the feeder or me for putting it in there- as far as I know he/she is sticking with the bowls. But it is SO nice to have feed in the FEEDER instead of all over the brooder- this will work better. If Ultrasuede wants bowls, I'll get a nice flat bottomed one and indulge the little pooker.

How soon did Thor get wattles? Ultrasuede has little ones, but no where near as big as the Del roos have - or at least the three biggest Del roos- Superchick still has teeny ones.

I cannot compare to anything other than an EE and they do not have big wattles at all...my Dellies are girls. At 6 weeks old they were pretty unnoticeable.

This is Thor at 6 weeks

Yes, I have 5 roos and 6 little girls. I did have 7 roos, but 2 were dwarfs, and they are no longer with us.

They are 9 weeks old now, hatched on Nov 6, and easily sexed now.

I got some better pictures of the roos today, and am trying to upload them on photobucket. It takes me hours to get that done, with my slow satellite server! Then, once I upload them, they keep making copies, and I end up with a gazillion of them. OK ... I confess, I am computer challenged!

Cetawin, I have to say, I sure do enjoy your pictures! Only thing that would make it better is if I had some CETAWIN COFFEE to drink while I admired them!
