Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Good morning all!!! My chicks are 2 weeks old today and the pecking order has begun - I am seeing a lot of "chest bumps" and I really try not to giggle. Poor Norbit has challenged each chick only to be sent back to his corner - he loves to start stuff, but always gets put right back in place. DH swears that he can pick out a roo at this point, but we all know how that goes, LOL.

Looks like we might get some snow this weekend - schools are already closing and there is nothing going on right now - I really needed to run a few errands today, but now that the "S" word has been said by the weatherman, I think the errands can wait - I really don't need that milk that bad.

Hope everyone has a great day!!

~Lisa~

aaaawwww Bless lil Norbit's heart...

Glad to hear everyone is doing well. Sorry you are getting snow. I think everyone is fairly sick of it for the year.

Good job, Bassleg! Now, watch out for the little heathens' mind control tactics. They start early!

Oh, let Ike out to run loose. He fought at the fence with Suede then stood at the gate into his girls' pen. When Tom let him in and stood in there to watch, only Riley and one other hen squatted for him. He really didn't chase them much. Then, Ellie started hunting him down and chasing him to get hold of his wattles, as well as Gracie. I may not be able to get Delaware eggs to anyone if he can't even stay in there long enough to mate them. No time yet to cut their beaks, but that's coming as soon as Tom and I recover from our last 24 hours.

Cyn, gosh I hope you two start feeling better. I hope the beak trimming works.

That's a great idea Cynthia! Trim their beaks. They may not be as "pretty" but you sure don't want to teach the rest of the birds to eat wattles and combs. Smart.

If you get a chance--when you are feeling better--can you post on how to do that in case I ever need to do it?

Cyn, if I have to drive over there to help you trim those wenches, I will! Poor Ike. I bet he was weighing the joys of sex against the potential threat to his comb and just froze. . . . .

Bassleg- that is wonderful- a really good percentage. When do we get pics????

CountryCgirl- they are a hoot, aren't they? Poor little Norbit. But everyone needs to look out, he could get a growth spurt and send the rest tumbling!

YAY! Highspringschix! Ask for the refund. That is ridiculous- three days is ridiculous. I can get stuff from NC to WI in four days or less.

BTW, I win today's award for best loved mama- three plates of scrambled egg, banana, broccoli, pumpkin seed, oatmeal and lettuce have been consumed by 14 Dellies and one blue Orp with great gusto. They tried following me out of the run for the first time- that made me feel good, too!

Morning everyone!

Congratulations Bassleg!!!

Yay Highspringschix! I'm so glad they were OK

Kathy, if you get this 'bator you will love it. It's holding steady 99.5, 45%.....

Cyn, I really wish you were feeling better! What I think you need is an aggressive Roo that you keep in a cage just to let out on those girls when they are bothering Ike. A stunt double so to speak. Otherwise you keep him in a cage...and when they abuse Ike, you let out his counterpart and he can put them in their place....then you let Ike back to reap the rewards as the sweet Roo he is.

Goodness, I wish it would stop snowing where it isn't supposed too, who started messing with the weather maps?
Is this winter part of Global Colding?

Is it fair to take secret delight in all the "southern states" getting snow?

Well I guess it's not so secret anymore.

Walking out to the coop this morning was a chore. It's never fun to have snow so deep that it comes up over the tops of your boots. Or snow so deep that the buckets drag in the snow, and I'm 5'10".

I've lived in Utah, Colorado and Ohio, thanks to the Air Force, so I'm no stranger to snow, but I live here now. HERE, the deep south, Georgia, land of the peaches! Oh, well, can't do anything but ride it out and pray the power stays on.
