Biomistake! Catdaddy! Welcome! I am glad to have two more Delaware groupies

The babies I hatched have grown a lot... Almost scary :hmm Haha. I love them. Although, since I did not have my hens separated and I had a Delaware Rooster on them all except I think six of them... Well, lets hope I can figure out who is who by the time their feathers come in completely. I will have pictures VERY soon

Here they are, as promised! I know they are no where near, I mean NO WHERE NEAR, quality, but they are mine, and I love them.

Your Delawares are great! The last picture is my favorite and a close second is the one with your Roo and his girl.

Have they started laying yet, and are you going to hatch some out? Your Roo has wonderful color and your girls too. At least I think so.

The lady we are getting these from is supposed to have 3 different lines of breeding stock from other breeders so I hope they are a good base of stock to work from.

They may not be show birds, but I don't see anything in your photos that would suggest your birds are not high quality chickens. If they're not filling the purpose you got them for, then you're right, otherwise enjoy your high quality chickens.

I'm happy you're enjoying your Dels, no matter what quality they are according to the standard. You can certainly improve them, but so can I. There are very few truly show quality Delawares in this country. Pick one or two traits to cull for and work up from there, if you are so inclined. Yours look like they've been dustbathing in clay, just like mine do on occasion. Always amazes me how they can come out of a dust hole, all reddish and dirty, then a couple hours later, they are glowing white again...except Kira, LOL. That girl must have feathers that are attracted to Georgia clay and hang onto it for dear life. Her hackles always look reddish.

Delaware girl,
I think they look better than you think they do - and your roo is VERY expressive, which is something I really like.

By the way, I got the SOP and boy oh boy- I have LOTS of studying ahead of me- I am rather sorry it only deals with phenotype, but there is a lot there for me to learn! I always want to know about personalities and egg laying abilities, but I am getting lots of info here about those aspects.
I also realized, looking at it, that the only chicken skeleton I have ever seen is the one picked clean on the Sunday dinner platter!!!!
