.... i work on it about 5 to 10 hours a week... and hope to have eggs and chicks for sale on there by late spring

Boy it's been a few days since I have visited this post. Wow did I miss alot! I'm taking down notes for new birds and eggs come spring.

Our neighbor's dog got into the run this week and killed every last bird I had, Delaware and Black Java, 18 total and 4 Guinea. Restitution was a total of $96.00...

Keep those beautiful bird pictures comming....

I am so sorry to hear that - I certainly hope you got a profound apology as well as restitution AND a promise to keep the dog home!!!!

This thread has certainly sparked some interest - I know I am totally hooked on Delawares now!

They are a nice breed and I am happy I made that decision when looking around for our farm. I will be looking in the spring for more hatching eggs and chicks if I can find them.

This has been a very helpful post and I have learned a great deal, have a better idea of what to look for when I purchase more, and even a better idea where to look for them.

I always wonder if the dog owner would say "it's only a dog" if something came on THEIR property and killed THEIR pet.

Haha, but my dogs learnt fast that chickens are friends, not food.

Wow, we got pushed way back. I know there are more Delaware owners out there, we just gotta wait them out
