Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

The primaries and secondaries are supposed to have indications of irregular barring per standard, so that is not an issue. Body type first over all. When you separate out the ones with the good body type, then start looking at comb, plumage and leg color. An extra comb point is not the worst thing if all else is good. I don't care for #3 really because it appears he has a wave in the comb. Let me check the others, though. BRB. I need better comb pics, though.
Best to do a full body shot and a comb shot on each one separately and let us critique them without comparing to the rest at the same time. I'll send Janet the link and see what she says. I sort of like #2 and #5 from these pics, but would have to have comb shots and even better tail shots on a couple. In these pics, I don't care for 3, 4 or 7, but as I said, would like better comb pics. I like #6's body type, but can't see the tail well enough.

No problem, Scott. Actually, if I hadn't read the standard, I would think that was probably incorrect myself. White is supposed to predominate in that area, but some barring is fine. I hope Janet has time today to look at the pics and give us her opinion. Hers carries more weight then mine after the tremendous progress she's made in her Delawares. Honestly, I think hers have surpassed some of the renowned Delaware breeders of the last years.

Thanks to Janet for weighing in on Kathy's birds. I agree completely about #3--cull now.

I'd go with #1 and #6 for the best body type (of course, it's hard to judge from just one pic, and some of the birds are not standing in profile. I can't tell much about #5 at all). Some have decent chests but they're too squared off (like RIRs). Delawares should have a heavy but curved breast.

Several of her birds, including the ones I picked for type, have slightly slipped wings. This comes from Sand Hill and needs to be bred out, which is not easy (although #1's doesn't look to bad--about like my George's was). I'd cull out #3 without further ado. Too light, bad shank color, slipped wing. Too many flaws and nothing to really recommend him.

Anyway, that's my incomplete assessment without being able to tell anything about the combs...

Now, I can get plenty of pictures like this!
