Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Yard full o' rocks :

Morning.....

Believe me, that's why we pay WAY TOO much $$ to hunt!! Private land, about 4000acres, and 17 hunters who all know each other. NO WAY I could let my boys hunt any public land where some of "those kind of morons" hang out. I have experienced it first hand....one of my fraternity brothers was shot while deer hunting. Mistaken for a "deer"....yeah right. He's 6' 2" tall....biggest deer I've EVER seen in Ga might be 42" at the shoulder

Anyway.....back to work. I'm sending Gloria Jean some Del eggs today for her broody....there will be another addict amongst us in a few weeks. Beth.....you better run over there and forewarn her....she will be forever more "owned".

Y'all have a great day

I went in and made the post office aware of the live cargo and told them to call me the minute they got there. They wrote it all down and promised. Oh I am soooooo excited. Gloria Jean

Tim, all roosters will drop their wings depending on what they're doing. Were/are they never horizontal? Ike's usual carriage is horizontal, but he'll drop his for different reasons from time to time. I don't think it would have much to do with age.

Honestly I 've never noticed or considered it until you mentioned it on another posting. I will be watching more closely from now on and see how it is. Have you got a pic of good horizonal wings? Well, duh! I've got a picture right next my computer. One of a hen and one of a roo. They're from BYC but I don't know whose they are. You can still post the pics though.

The covert feathers on the hen's tail may have some irregular barring, but the main tail feathers should be black with white edging. Those are representation pics from the Standard of Perfection.

A covert feather on a bird is one of the feathers which cover other feathers. The coverts are supposed to help smooth airflow over the wings and tail.

I hope they arrive in perfect condition, Gloria Jean, and you have a perfect hatch!!!!

Good morning Dellie lovers. My story for the day: I got home from church last night and went to lock up my big kids (BBS Orp babies and Lizzie were already in their respective safe places for the night). I looked in the coop, and saw one hen roosting on the edge of one nest box, and two more fluffy Del butts on the edge of the other, and NO ONE ELSE. I freaked- I thought something had gotten in and killed the rest, but the minute I gasped, 8 chickens exploded out of the second nest box and accused me of abandonment- Ultrasuede, Luke and 6 hens had all crammed into one nest box!!! It was like the trick car at the circus or college kids stuffing themselves into a phone booth......they just came pouring out! Boy, was I relieved!
Chickens. . . . .

They seem to be comedians for sure. Gloria Jean
