Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

AnarchyintheAK ..... Maybe this will help. Boys should have red comb and waddles by now. Here are some pictures about that age.

This is a girl:

Shoot. I think I may have three boys, then. They all have more dark feathers and barring on them and red combs like the second picture. It's pretty much all slight variations of this:

Rachel,
I am sorry you seem to have three roos- and do keep asking questions. The lovely people on this thread are always kind and gracious and good to answer questions from newbies, as I can attest.
I have learned a lot here-

Kathy, love the names, love the boys. Oliver has beautiful hackle feathers- Alexander sort of tugs at my heart, though. Something about him- and the girls look wonderful. This was a good bunch for you, huh? They are both handsome boys!

Cetawin- glad DH is home and Cannonball is comforted. Chickens DO have memories. And they hold grudges. Lizzie has never forgiven me for putting her back in the flock with the mad rapist roosters. Georgine, Jeanette and Cora have not forgiven me for dusting them for mites, and won't sit near me anymore!!! So, do we get more pictures now?

Serrin, you just gotta get some Dellies, SOON. I can't WAIT to hear about your battle with Dellie mind control.

Have any of you ever thought you could identify a chick's parents by the way the chick moves or poses? I know once they are grown they seem to resemble parents, but have you ever noticed it in a chick? I was struck by something Emma (still suspicious it's Ellit or Emmett) did that reminded me so much of Lizzie that I was dumbfounded.

NellaBean - I might just take you up on that...I really like the Porcelains. I have got to get housing built ASAP for these guys....They are sleeping in a XL dog crate at night and in their playpen during the day. That dark mille cochin project boy...I am wanting if Hera will make up her mind whether she is going to stay small or grow up! I think she is going to be just a large bantam but gosh at 3 months old, she could go either way still. I want another Mille female for sure so that pair of d'uccle can become a trio.

Serrin...shoot yes they have memories...she has missed DH so much and I think had he been here when Thor died, she would not have suffered so much. She lost a little weight from her refusal to eat but she should put it back on fast now because DH was feeding her by hand last night and she was mowing right through everything he gave her.

Beth, I am sorry your gals have not forgiven you...bad girls need to know they had to dusted. Lizzie needs to understand she is a chicken but good luck making her get that. Cannonball looks at you like you have lost your mind when you put her in the coop. If she could speak I know she would say "Hey, why am I in here with THEM?" Hera leaves no question in your mind what she thinks... she sees another chicken and she screams!

Once I get all of husband's things unpacked I can set up the other laptop and get the other pics all downloaded. YAY!

Rachel, welcome to the Dellie world. I am sorry you have 3 boys now you just need a few girls them. Time to get more chickens!

Oh, don't you just know it! When this little wench was hatched, I knew immediately who her daddy was!

None other than my beautiful boy, Griffin. For those of you who aren't familiar with the story of my motley mob of mutts, The eggs all came from a neighbor's flock from down the road. Griffin also came from them. I acquired the eggs first, and Griffin about a week later. Out of 24 eggs set, 18 went into lock down and 18 was what I hatched out. Out of all of them, this little girl was the only one with a rose comb. And Griffin was the only rooster in that flock that had a rose comb too. But it's her personality more than anything else that was my main clue that she was Griffins Girl, hence the name GeeGee. Short for Griffin's Girl!

That picture was taken nearly 2 months ago, and every day she develops a look and a personality so much like her father. She wants nothing to do with me unless I have something interesting to eat in my hands. Definitely has that whole "I'm too good for you" attitude going!

But, she's a beautiful creature and just like her daddy, I can't help but be drawn to her. I work with her every chance I get, and bit by minuscule bit, her attitude is improving. Oh for more hours in the day!

And yes, that's my magnificent boy, Chief, next to her! You should see him NOW!!! Oooh Laaa Laaa!!!

I think you are right Serrin...she is his daughter ... no doubt. She looks like him. You can tell who their parents are by looking at them many many times. They have characteristics of their parents. We figured out who CBs mom was by looking at her and also they egg she came from, but more so because she looks like her mother, is marked like her mother and well there you have it. But she has her daddy's perfect comb.

I tell ya what, if you want another pair of Porcelain, I will also sell (ha) you a Mille female. I have a single one, but no rooster....had planned on just leaving her, the blue mille girl and 2 mottled girls all with the porcelain group. But I need to downsize......I bought that pair of Mille Fleur D'uccles off the old guy (or rather, swapped for them) but 2 of the 6 birds I got from him ended up sick so they are all staying in quarantine, being treated until healthy and then sold. Without ever leaving quarantine. Do not want SICK BIRDS.

So yes, you have a week to decide! All my extra porcelain are going to a local chicken sale next saturday....if you want another pair, I will pull a pair out first

I sold one Mille Fleur Cochin rooster yesterday, but it was not the dark one. Did you like the one i brought with me to the swap? Or the other one I showed pix of? Those boys are going to the sale next weekend too, but I can pull one out if you're interested.

Anywho, here is the mille girl. She is itty bitty....was one of the last batche of d'uccles I got. Her head is blurry as I was aiming for the other birds, not her.....so it didn't matter

BACK TO DELLIES:
Hey Scott, how goes the hatch? Any pipping zipping peeping or pooping? LOL

I would like to make a suggestion, if I may. Please don't be offended. I really do not think it is wise to sell sick birds, even if it is after they have been treated. They can be carriers. It could be deadly to someone elses flock. I would kill them all, personally.
