Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Wow, Stewart really colored up well! And he really had very little color as a chick. He's a prime example of why not to cull too early on, isn't he? He's also filled out a ton! Another studly son of Ike in the Delaware world.

Cyn, I'm happy with how much Stewart has filled out. He's gotten quite a bit heavier over the past couple of months. My Ameraucana roo recently took another chunk out of his blade though...

Stewart and Claude now live separately almost always.

What do you think of the pullets?

I don't trap nest but I can tell you that from one pen of 4, I get 4 eggs and sometimes 3 everyday even if it's 110 they just started to lay in July so I would guess at least 290 maybe more and they are large eggs too.

This is the first time my current hens have slowed down since they hatched-they are about 20 months old now. I have three hens at the moment and one lays about every day, but the other two are molting heavily so have slowed way down.

Jeremy... you may try my approach to some shots. (I think we have the same or simular cameras)

I take the SLR and put int just above the grass, don't look (of course or I'd be laying down) and snap away towards the chickens. You can get some really nice shots! I just like playing with them like that. lol.

I meant to get ALOT of shots today and have a big photoshoot with all sorts of my birds. BUT... I was working on internet things and never got a chance. My luck, next week will be a full moult (some are starting already). We'll see.

Snowhunter... Hope you got home fine and the babies are still warm! It was nice meeting you... you both seem like good people.

Look like some pretty nice birds Jeremy..Hope you have a great time with them .. I might be showing a pair this year for a freind..I need another coop! We'll see.. actually I need a new coop and another breeding pen. I told myself I was only going to deal with one breed and so far have stuck to that promise..but I think Im giving in on the delewares..A freind has been trying to give me some for years..told Him I will condition and show for him and Im going to be awful fussy about what I take out there but strict on only one breed for me to concentrate on, let him concentrate on that breed...Think Im giving in...So its going to be up to the husband to build a few more things...nothing will move till then.. Told him get your babies out of them , they tend sometimes to go infertile young, then we'll show them as mature roosters. I dont know..I really enjoy showing but dont want anymore than a show flock,,,people say oh you need to have thousands to work with to show...thats absolutly not true,, ray conner the 18 time world champion australorp breeder never kept over 50 birds and had as few as 25 many times, he was just a master breeder with an eye for what would work with what and bought the top of the line stock then worked inside that flock for years..he almost never brought any new birds inside that closed flock..

The Delaware pair are enjoying life. They're a bit flighty, though, I expect that, after the 5 hour ride and whole new place.. but, they've settled in and are doing great
