& so the plot thickens... what was the BR mixed with then?
If that's the case, would these still be considered Delawares then? Or a project that has a similar feather pattern to that of Dels...

Also, what would happen if you bred the resulting birds to a "real" Delaware, would it produce Del patterned chicks?\\

You also mentioned there were no roosters... so are these birds sex linked? Are there roosters, just not of the Del color pattern?

So selecting and breeding the Delaware colored males and the Silver Columbian females (which will always be females?) will result in Delawares like those in the picture?

The real question is though HOW many eggs do you have to hatch to get what you need?

Only 12 eggs were hatched in this mating. 6 were barred...
breeders words:

Five of the chicks were pure white at hatch. There were 3 males and 2 females. All were decent Delaware color pattern. At least for the first generation offspring of two so very different colored breeds. The males had too much black on their backs, but the females are pretty decent "Delawares".

I'm confused. Only 12 eggs were hatched from the BR X NH mating and resulted in these birds,

OR

12 eggs were hatched from the all barred birds resulting in these Delaware patterned offspring? (Isn't this suppose to be correct?)

Kathy, you have one of those giant cabinet incubators... get to hatching!!!

ETA: Where are those two "Delaware" pullets now? Is someone still continuing this project, do they have any more results?

They're probably in Europe... that's the way these things work, you get to drooling over some AMAZING bird, only then to realize they're located in the UK.
