Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

You misread my post, Amy. I said he has no hackle barring.

He's not bad otherwise except that his tail is darker than Isaac's even. His comb is okay, but something is missing in his overall look. His head just isn't that great looking; he doesn't have that regal look that I love in Isaac. It's an elusive quality that's hard to explain- maybe his eyes don't have that soft and intelligent look or something like that. He is definitely getting some yellowing. At first I thought he was just dirty, but at second glance, it appears to be some yellowing.

Well thank the Lord I'm not completely crazy, I still have a ways to go.

The november PP mag has an article on "purity" . Anyone read it? Care to comment and explain some of it?

How could one use a boy such as this to improve the breed? What would you put him with that would utilize any positive attributes he might have? Or should he have been culled by this time? Just trying to learn here.

I think a lot of what you are seeing ....or not seeing is because of the angle of the picture. His color seem OK with the exception of the brassiness in the shoulders and saddle. The comb has a "thumbprint" at the beginning of it above the beak. The back appears to be short and it also does not appear to be straight. The tail is also somewhat pinched. Can't really tell what the underline looks like in this picture.

Good catch! It probably is, but I can't tell for sure with that angle in the picture. Picture should be a ground level so that it does not distort the look of the bird.
