Oh what darling young Del's! And your children are positively precious as well! I'm glad you found us Sheps4her. Are these all of the chickens you have so far? I think your 8 week old chick is a pullet. Sorry, I can't see the two younger birds well enough to take a guess at sex, and they may just be too young yet to tell anyhow. Del's are famous for keeping their gender to themselves until the last possible moment at times!
Anyhow, welcome to the Delaware thread! I hope you'll continue to post pictures of your birds and those darling children. We love to watch both as they grow up around here!
Well here goes my first 25 dellie eggs with an accompanying 7 BR eggs. I will be hatching practically all delawares this year and very little anything else. I already have 44/48 *non dellies* due on the 19th and only 4 haven't made it to day 10. I am lucky in a way as a neighbor *8 or so miles up the road*, wound up with a nice Trio out of my stock from last year and is going to do some swapping with me. I am going to hatch out at least one setting from my grand chickens. I cant wait to have little yaller butts all over the place trying to figure out just how I am gona house them all. At least I have enough of egg sales to offset a good portion of my feed bill
Ok enough rambling... onwards and upwards goes the Dellie Club... Its a plane its super man wait! wait! nooooo its DELLIEE ROOO our hero!
These are the only chickens I have at the moment. I am starting over since moving to a 5 acre property.
These are my first Delawares and I am so pleased with them already. I will be looking for more hatching eggs in the next 2 weeks and am hoping to have a better hatch rate this time.
The larger chick is the only one from my first attempt (I think she is a she also
)and the two smaller ones are the only ones from my second attempt. ( I think I have a boy and girl there...one has a larger comb already so...
Hopefully I will have better luck next time. My kids (especially DD) love the chickies!!

Oooh! You didn't say before that you had hatched these out yourself! Congrats! Where did you get your eggs from? Where will you be getting your next eggs from? How many will you be incubating next time? Keep us posted! We totally love to see new Del's coming into the world! Cuz hey! The world NEEDS more Delaware's!!!
Delawares do have an indomitable spirit! For example, in a group of various chicks with my broody, the lone Delaware was the only one who found the upper roost at 3 weeks old and made her mama nervous. She walked the cap plate all around the little Firetower coop and always runs to the door to greet us when we show up with food and water. Brave little soul like all the Dels I've raised:
