Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Well, I've got a broody Delaware who is pretty much refusing to give up at her attempts to set on a clutch...

Even when I toss her off the nest.

You better believe I'm getting lots of stink eye for it.

Watch their combs carefully, you can start telling by two weeks, three weeks or so. You will get fooled sometimes, but there should be a bit of size difference. I have been told, and do not really know how true this is, that the males will get color faster, so the chicks that get the color coming in right away will be male. I am not sure that has proven true or not, you can't tell it by mine. Hope you get lots of girls!

jeremy, did you just give that beauty a bath or something?

Beth, that dirty old thing! LOL, no. I had just thrown her off the nest in those pictures, she was NOT happy.

I think I might have broken her of her broody spell, she went up on the roosts with everyone else tonight.

So if this is true, then these would be some examples of color (and lack thereof) at 1 week old:

If this theory holds true, I have 6 right now that are showing color and 12 that are not.....I REALLY LIKE THOSE ODDS!

I just went and checked again. I have 9 with no color in the wings, 6 with quite a bit of color, and 3 that have some slight coloring. I am hoping that this means I am no worse than 50/50!

Good luck! I have 4 that are three weeks old and 6 that are just under a week old that I got from Kathy. I also have about 2 dozen fertile eggs sitting on the table and no broody.
