Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

I have three Del hens and each is different with its personality. Like any other creature, each will have a slightly different way of expressing themselves. Sometimes loud and demanding , sometimes quiet and passive.

Living very close to the state of Delaware and going to both of the state's major universities, I had to add an Indian River/Delaware to my flock. I can also thank my husband for helping me choose to give the breed a chance. She is now three weeks old.

Good - we Del fans need all the help we can get to re establish the breed.
Its a great one.

I am not a fan of white birds. My husband really likes the Light Brahmas and Delawares. I am not keen on white birds. These breeds were my compromises for some that I liked. Now that we have our little Del girl, I am beginning to like the breed for more than it's looks. I am hoping that she will be okay while free ranging. I wanted to upload some pics, but it did not work as I had planned.

If it is a myth then I am more at ease.

It doesn't mean they won't pick a white chicken even though most of their prey is darker.. I look at it this way. A Hawk can see a mouse move at a 100 yards so no way will it have difficulty picking out a chicken. No matter the color. Its mostly opportunity and hunger.

We need PICs of the new addition
