Isaac is brilliant. Biden wasn't a very good boy today. I brought Libra out. She is my 8 week old Silver Phoenix. She's been in her tiny brooder in the garage. I've got the BIG brooder in the yard almost ready (good thing because the first chick will hatch tonight or tomorrow). It's got it's first plastic layer, straw in it for the older chick to get warm, heater. I've cleaned out the feeder and waterer that I used last year for the ducks and chicks.
Libra was doing Ok. First Emily came right up and was assessing the newcomer. She walked around Libra, posturing a bit, then gave me some Delaware Stink eye. She was patient and didn't lay a beak on Libra until Libra started investigating the interesting red wattles. Two other Phoenix hens were oblivious to her presence, but one was a bit obnoxious to poor little Libra.
Then Biden came in and noticed not a baby, but a new hen. He had no problem just reaching over and grabbing her by the neck. I think he would have killed me with a look every time I threw him off of her. I think he must have come back and grabbed her 4 or 5 times before I finally chased him out of the barn with a few kicks to his rear. He wouldn't get aggressive with me, but he wanted at that baby hen.
