Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Shocking? No, I'm not shocked. After all, we do all eat chicken.

Cooking techniques?
Well, I don't really think Delaware chicken would cook any differently than any other breed of chicken.
After all, chicken is chicken ....

Ok. Still no pips. Last candle, only one still seems to be alive. My daughter talked me into pipping one of the ones that had stopped moving. After a few hours with no movement on the pip I carefully opened the egg to find the chick had died a few days ago, probably just after I did the final candle for IBW as this one was alive at that point. (1/18)

So that leaves me with the chick about to come out of the bator, and one egg that is alive but has decreasing movement.

At what point would you intervene with this egg if at all? Pictures of SawsAll coming very soon.

We did the assist on my last Delaware because I realized that today was in fact the end of day 22, not 21. The movement was slowing down and I was afraid it wouldn't make it.

Turned out it had pipped through the inner membrane but not the shell. Everything inside was dry and it was a huge chick for the egg size. It never would have made it on it's own.

That said.... it's eyes are bulgey and it's yolk sack has not been absorbed. Its survival is unlikely. We've wrapped it in a wet face cloth and placed it back in the incubator. If it absorbs the yolk sack in the next 24hrs then it may have a chance. If not then we'll cull it. I am very disappointed, but I know it happens. Shipped eggs and all. I do have to say I am shocked at the lack of fertility of this set though. It's not going to stop me from trying.

I pick up my Java chicks next week I hope!!! They won't be Delawares though!
