Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Sounds like a kazoo!

Used to call Ike and his brother "The Kazoo Band". They were tuning up regularly.

Oh, Cher, I knew you'd be back in the hatching game before long!

I removed my Del/Ameraucana cross eggs from the batch and replaced them with pure Barred Rocks, so along with some Blue and Barred Rocks and Ameraucanas (and a couple Black Rock/Wheaten Marans cross eggs), will be incubating six BBS Orp eggs for Beth. The turner will probably be completely full, 42 eggs.

Chick update: SawsAll is getting along well with Pebbles (2 week old White Java) just fine in the indoor brooder cage. The little chick I'm thinking about calling SC2 (Short for Super Chick 2) is still alive this morning. I am keeping it wrapped in a clean moist wash cloth. I changed it out this morning.

It is not attempting to get up but is moving around. It's cheep is getting stronger, and the "bulge" is getting smaller. Right now we are trying to do our best to imitate the conditions in the egg by keeping humidity very high, and moisture in contact with the yolk area via the wash cloth. Only the head area is not completely covered.

If it makes it, it will be a miracle.

I know, I know, not around much, but I'm trying to be. The stupid big computer doesn't like to work, and the laptop decided to... well, die. I hope everyone is doing well! I just found a clutch of 14 eggs... dern chickens had me fooled. I candled each one and the eggs had no sign of being incubated, so I through them all out!!!!

heres hoping for SC2

I think my birds are getting the idea about treats, Sweetheart got my pinky good. I must say that they are the highlight of my day....I'm having a gloomy one, I guess the few low points of the past week just hit me today. so I'm on here looking at fuzzy butts, and starting to feel a little better. no fuzzy butts, but I thought this was cool https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=283022&p=1 - there is always a better brooder lol

Delgirl- from the inner world to the far outer reaches, you do get around!!!! I am sorry about your computer- now that we are all spoiled and used to having them, it makes life hard when one goes down. Weren't any of those eggs still good for eating? Hens are sneaky- it's why I am going to keep mine in a giant run- less space for hide and seek the egg when the time comes.

Crazy Lady - I am sorry you are having a bad week- you go hug on your babies- Swwetheart will make you feel better!

I know I can't wait to get home to see ALL my furry and feathered babies! And see if I have a kazoo band waiting for me!!! ( A bass kazoo or just a regular kazoo?)

Well I'm home now and SC2 is doing Ok. Still laying on it's side on the wash cloth it is moving around quite bit and has uncovered itself.

Fingers are crossed.
