Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Sorry folks .... I've been MIA today. First day on new job. Typical paperwork, business cards, phone numbers, etc, etc. No real "work" yet. China trip IS ON for March 14-27. Will take lots of pix to share with you

Thanks again EVERYONE for all the thoughts, prayers, positive comments, little pick-me-ups, kidding around, etc, etc while I was out of work. You were all GREAT and I really appreciate your "long distance" friendship.

On the Dellie side, my young girls must be going through their "teenage mini-molt" right now. There are white feathers EVERYWHERE. Hoping they all look a little better when they are through. DOT and Harley are beginning to get red-faced...hoping to get some eggs soon.

Y'all have a great evening and thanks again to you all!!

Hi all you crazy Dellie folks!! It is a beautiful day in the south, but they say the snow is coming - you better get ready Cyn!! Hope you have all of your bread and milk - I know you are set on eggs!!

I am sorry that you are having to get rid of your girls Cyn - I suppose you need a break and all of us will pitch in and try to become Dellie Professionals - I am fairly new and still learning, so I will be listening in on everything and moving it into my brain for later use

Popcornpuppy - Congrats on that first egg - lets see some pics! I have a way to go yet on my first egg - my babies are only 4 weeks old and I am pretty sure there are no hens, so I will be doing some more hatching, but would love to see that egg picture!

Scott - Congrats again on your new job! I know you are so relieved to be back in the workforce - China, huh?? That sounds exciting!! Just curious, what kind of work are you in???

Kathy - Thanks for posting the link from Miss Jayne!!! I have now changed my avatar - her directions were great!! Maybe one of the moderators could make it into a sticky in FAQ....

Cetawin - Yay!!! We are now facebook friends!!

I enjoyed looking at all of those pictures - when I picked up my first batch of Del eggs from Cyn, I got to see Suede (I think that was him) and let me just say, he is more beautiful in person!! I would love to have an Orpington one day - they are just gorgeous!!

And, on a personal note, I have 18 Delaware hatching eggs on their way from Camille!!!! I am so excited to be hatching again!!! Send me some Dellie luck and lets hope I can get some girls soon!!

My chicks (4 weeks old) have learned not only how to fly to the top of the brooder, but now they are flying all of the way out and just walking around on the floor (when the screen is not on). We are working really hard on my chicken coop and hopefully it will be completed by this weekend!! Their wattles are getting so big and are really red - more so than the pictures I posted of them on Friday. Their combs are forming nicely and also turning red and I wake up every day wondering what else has changed with them! I am in LOVE!!

Hope everyone else has had a wonderful day!!!!

Lisa, I hope you enjoy your babies. Yes, you did see big ol' Suede, sort of like a blue tank with feathers? LOL. Mailed eggs to rancher hicks today and next Monday, urbanfarmboi (Jeremy)'s eggs will be winging their way to California. Then Ike gets some new women, ones I don't believe will mess with him like the Delaware girls do, and the Dellie ladies will be back in the main flock. I guess I need to sell off three of them if they don't do well in there with Dutch. If they do, then maybe they can stay, though I'm not all that optimistic about it.

I am in the flooring business (hardwood flooring mostly) and I will be the National Sales Manager for a company called Yihua International. They are a large wood products manufacturer in China and their US Affiliate is called Elegance Hardwood Flooring.

Looks like we are pretty close to being neighbors...lemme know if there is anything I can do for ya!

Lisa .... Awwww, gonna be hatching again! One of my favorite things!

Scott .... I can hardly wait to see those pictures from China! I am so happy for you, that you got that job. We all get to reap some of the benefits, and see the pictures! YAY!! What kinda chickens they have in China? Hmmm, gonna have to google that!

Cyn .... Ya want me to sell those girls for ya?

I should have gotten a job on commission wages in sales, instead of nursing. Hhmmmm, come to think of it, being in the psych field is quite similar!

Yay to eggs being sent on Monday!! My incubator FINALLY arrived today via UPS. It was funny, I was leaving my house for work and a UPS delivery man appeared and was all, *looks at package illustrated with chicken pictures* "Hey! Do you have chickens?" to which I replied, "Well I will in a couple of weeks". Then I proceeded to snatch the box and sign his little inventory thingy.

I'm so excited! I'm going to be hatching Cyn's Dellie eggs (plus any extras she may send.

), Blue Wheaten and Wheaten Ameraucanas from Pips&Peeps and I think I might throw a couple of my Cuckoo Marans eggs and Delaware X Cuckoo Marans in just for kicks.

I'm ready!

Cyn - good luck with those new women!!! I hope everything works out for you - I cannot imagine how frustrating this has been for you!!! I am sending positive chicken thoughts your way!!

Scott - we are neighbors - you are off I20 right??? That puts you at about 2 hours SW of Winder!! That is pretty close in the grand scheme of things!!

Kathy - sounds like you are about to be in the business of re-locating chickens!!! I might need some tips on giving away roosters - looks like I am going to need 4 new homes in the near future......so, a psych nurse?? I majored in psych in college, but have not applied my degree to any of my jobs, but I always wanted to do counseling or work in a facility with young adults - do you like it?? I bet it is really tough sometimes!! Props to you for what you do!! It is folks like you that care about the rest of us and keep us all sane!!
hugs.gif

Jeremy - looks like you and I will be hatching Dellies about the same time - mine should be here in a day or so!! I am so jealous that you are getting Suede eggs!! You are going to be one busy bee!!!

I hope everyone has a great night - I am tuned in to "The Bachelor" and holding my breath for the "final rose"

My blue bird addiction sparked when I first saw a Blue Wheaten Ameraucana rooster... and now I'm getting Blue Orps! I love my Buff hens, so that's really exciting! Thanks Cyn, I only hope that whatever hatches from those eggs turns out to be pullets. I don't have any more room for boys.

Hm... next I'll be on the hunt for Lavender/Self Blue birds...
