Question: How long should I leave the chicks in the incubator with the unhatched eggs? I've left everyone in so far, but they are really rocking and rolling over the unhatched eggs. I've always read you should just leave them in until the hatch is done, opinions?
Well, I'm a rebel myself. Most say leave them in, but if I have a couple who are very well fluffed out, I locate them in the bator and either DH or I tips it open while the other snatches the chicks out quickly.
Well I've got the inside brooder all cleaned and sterilized. Right now Del#3 is about 32hrs old. So I'm going to have to go in and get him/her soon. I just have to wait as long as possible because yesterday I caught DH checking on the eggs before Del3 hatched and he had lifted the top off the incubator and I freaked on him. So I can't go in until I absolutely have to......
Cyn, I just candled .... which I rarely do til lockdown. I wanted to add some Silkie eggs, so I took a quick peek. Looks like the Delawares are ALL developing. I pulled the clears ... 3 Megs, 4 Dusty's and 1 Smoky's. So help me, I am determined to hatch those other Smoky eggs!
The Delaware eggs from Claudia are also ALL developing! YEE HAW ! ! ! Gonna have some more Delaware chicks! Due March 12th.
