No, it wouldn't be a del and a sussex mix. The Lavender would be a lavender orp project bird.

See, here's the deal .... I can not breed my Dels pure until I have my # 1 Del roo. He is not in group one, so I must wait a while longer. Group 2 is my 12 week olds, and there is where I will find him! So, I just thought I would play around and do something while waiting.

What are you gonna do with Fattie and Cannonball? Strictly eggs? No babies?

Cetawin-Ultrasuede's eyes are maybe a shade darker than Thor and Athena's, but I don't think they are as dark as they are supposed to be. I think he will be a good boy- absolutely no aggression toward me or the others- he'll either stand up for himself with the other roos if they start it, which is rare, or very skillfully evades them. He comes up to me now, and hardly ever tries to escape if I want to pick him up- I think he is clever, and takes advantage of the fact that he doesn't look like the rest of them, because the others are starting to challenge each other, and I have some scabby combs. He is generally left alone by the roos, and adored by the girls.

If you get Thor/Luna babies, or Thor/Athena babies, I will be a supplicant at your door. Ultrasuede will be all set if he has some Suede daughters, but I would LOVE a Thor girl if it is ever possible.

Kathy- go for it. Who knows what you might come up with. Maybe this is the one Delaware cross that would work? I inherited my neighbors two black sex link and one barred rock, and I thought about letting one of my sweet natured Columbian boys out with them- he keeps eyeballing them through the run. THAT might be the ugliest cross ever.

Who has baby chicks this morning???? I need a chick pic fix!!!

Hey, Kath! Isaac and his new women were let out of their pen for the first time since he got them. They all immediately headed for the find powdery red dirt next to our house and all of them had a wild time, Ike included, dirt flying everywhere. He takes more dustbaths than any rooster I've ever seen! Gentlemen pay attention to their grooming, right?

Kathy, dear, are you feeling alright these days? Has someone been slipping something in your morning coffee? I AM WORRIED ABOUT YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it the Turkens doing it?

Cynthia, you have subtly gotten us back on the Dellie track. Where is that picture of SawsAll when we need it? I am so glad Ike is having fun with his new women. Have your remaining Dellie women calmed down with Dutch?

Dutch still has a few minor scabs on his comb and wattles so he spends nights in the hospital cage over Zane's. He is avoiding them pretty well. I saw Maxie sidle up to him on the tree branch roost in the pen and start plucking at his hackle feathers. He averted his head so she couldn't reach his face, LOL. We'll have to watch him closely for new wounds. Meanwhile, my blue wheaten Ameraucana cockerel is growing out and eventually, he and his coop mates will be integrated into that flock. He should provide some pretty EEs with my BBS Ameraucanas (will be non-standard color since you can't really mix BBS with WBW.

I have a thought on the comb and wattle thing- one of the girls tried it on my sweetest Buckshot, who took it, so I whapped her. Just like I won't let the other roo pick on the girls. I wonder if that would help at all, or if these Dels need to work it all out themselves? They sure are mouthy little darlings. They pull on my clothes constantly.

Yes. If they had both grown up to be big enough girls for Isaac and had him, then I would raise some for myself. But no crosses from thsoe girls.

Cyn, did you see Cannonballl's current beak pic a page back I think? What's your opinion?
