Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

That roo is Suedes Son Stormy. He is so sweet and gentle. The only problem with him other than his comb shape etc is that he is ruinning the backs of the smaller hens I have. I have actually considered letting him go because of the problem. However this fall I will cull out the two comets and one barred rock that are his favorites so all should go better. The comets i don't care for and the barred rock didn't get to size at all and lays a small egg. Gloria Jean

Joletabey--She is chunky she weighs 5 1/2 pounds and is almost 9 months old. She is a hatchery girl from MPC.
She has always been my favorite since day 1. She was always the most inquisitve one and was never scared of me. She was an oops in my order, she was supposed to be a BO but then her feathers started coming in white so I posted pics of her on here and everyone said she was a Dellie. She's a great girl

I'm glad they made the mistake!

Billie Jo, don't they have the best personalities? I bet you are glad you got an "oops"! Doesn't it make you want to get more? I really love mine- they are just plain fun to be around.

I have been promising these pics, since Suede related topics are allowed on this thread, but FIRST:

An announcement:

YAY!!!! Beth, they look great! Your Del girls are looking quite plump and wonderful ! Ultrasuede is gonna be a happy family man, very soon, I think! You had better start looking for an incubator ...... soon, very soon, you are gonna want to give it a try!

Thank you!!! The tail black is good, I am very happy with that- I need darker hackles on some, and I do think I need to get another Buckshot type- I need a darker roo like he was- Luke has some good points, but he is lighter - I mostly wanted to see if he and Lizzie, who is VERY dark - not penciled hackles, but very dark and heavy- produced anything together, plus he has very good head roo instincts, where Buckshot was way laid back.

Ultrasuede is going to be the man about town for sure-

Oh, and I had a fertilized egg finally- the one I cooked up for Lizzie and the little ones had a bulls eye-
woohoo!

I love those names, Beth ..... Daughters of Suede ..... Silk and Satin ! I am thinking Suede and Smoky would be quite proud of their daughters!

I think you are so smart, Beth .... how to figure the breeding aspect with the Dels. That all makes sense to me.

Kathy, thanks for the compliment, but I am only smart enough to write down stuff people say on this thread!!! It was way back when- pages and pages ago - that there was some discussion about running two lines, one for female and one for male, etc. And having been a horse breeder, I am always convinced that the female line carries a lot more importance than most people give it, and I wonder if Lizzie can counteract the lighter markings Luke has.

I thought Silk and Satin were good with Suede- plus it was kind of fun, as I work with fabrics.

BTW, have I said yet today how delighted I am with these little girls????
