Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

They are very lucky to have you as their owner! BTW ... that picture of UltraSuede reminds me of cetawin's avatar; the straight on shot. I do see his nice lacing, too. I love looking at the lacing on those Orps!

Yes, I remember that, about seperate lines for male and female. I have thought about that, as well. I believe Cindiloohoo is working on seperate lines for each sex, if I recall correctly. That really is a good idea.

Stormy is handsome This is half-brother my Thor. Thor is perfect of course

Beth, Ultrasuede is so handsome and those girls are gorgeous. Those girls are beautiful and I love the names. Perfect!

Cheyenne starts school in the morning and she has to "perform" for her band teacher but she is going into band without a doubt...the teacher wants to see how far advanced she is or if she needs lessons hahahaha Their band is State Champion so they have a great program and she is looking forward to it.

JANET said that????

Not that I am responsible for how they look- Issac and Cyn's girls and Cyn are, but still -

Cyn, thanks for passing my pictures on- that was really sweet of you!

Cetawin, thank you for the compliment on Ultrasuede - I think he is going to be a tank like his Daddy- and please tell Athena she has competition - I think all three of my blues are Athena wannabe's- the drama is amazing around here. I think Thor and Stormy are both handsome hunka hunka's- I want a splash someday- that coloring is so beautiful! Cheyenne will fit right in with a band like that- tell her good luck from me!

Kathy, I think you are right, Cindiloo is doing that- someone else is, too, maybe ShelleyB?
re: the orps- your namesake Katia is the friendliest of the bunch, and the first to venture outside- Ultrasuede croons at them- he can see from one point through the fence and into their little coop. Luke, on the otherhand, does that raptor growl, and they scuttle back inside. Agh!!!

Good morning to everyone, BTW!!!!! We all need to follow Kathy's Icelandic hatch today!!!

Wow nice compliment from Janet Beth...WTG. They are great looking girls for sure. BTW I just love Cora she just looks like she has the personality of my Cannonball. I am glad some of the Blue Orp drama has gone to live with you...it is something everyone should endure. hehehehe

I do not think Cannonball will ever be big and chunky... she is so small for Thor but right now Thor has more girls so hopefully that will keep mounting her to a minimum. Thor currently has Athena, Fattie, Cannonball, My Cochins Luna and Ruby, my BOs Tonks and Bella, Maggie a NHR and Holly a BA. Plus, whatever Orp/Orp crosses Miss Nugget hatches in GA, I will go get so he has a few more. That hopefully will help because Cannonball and Thor will NOT tolerate being separated. When I try, the noise, pacing and attitude is just too much. They have been together since they hatched together in the incubator and only separated when Cannonball spent a few days inside with her beak injury and I just cannot stand to see them both so upset....they are just too attached to each other.

I forgot to say ..... I think your Rose is a sweetie! She looks great! I thought I had said that, but must have just been thinking it, and forgot to type it!

Stormy looks like yet another great example of Suede, doesn't he. He has sons everywhere! I have a blue Suede, Jr growing out. I do believe he is gonna be a huge one, as he was 1 1/2 the size of the 2 girls hatched with him!

cetawin, Give Cheyenne my best! I hope she has a wonderful time there. Change can be difficult, but she is a great girl and I am sure she will do well. The first week is always the hardest. We moved when our DD was going into 11th grade, and she adjusted after only a week or so in school.

I had a visitor drooling over my chickens yesterday, while I was at work. A guy I work with told me his girlfriend was at my house. I called home and my sons told me he gave her the tour (second time) and she took pictures and asked lots of questions. They have no chickens, but she is desperate to get a coop a built. DS said she went wild over the friendly Delawares, and had him take a picture of her holding and petting the silly girls! I think we may have another Del convert!

Today ..... I am sure hoping these Icelandics hatch out! I have 4 pips in the 6 eggs. All 6 eggs showed development and went into lockdown. I HATE to have to go to work today!

hahaha The Dellie Mind Control gets another one. hehehehehe She will be coming for hatching eggs soon Kathy.

Well after much talking, debating and etc DH and I have reached a chicken housing decision....

We are going to build a coop where my "garden" area is using that garden as the runs basically. It will have the dusk to dawn light illuminating the run areas and pop doors and closer to the house than the barn. The three stalls in the barn are on the far side and I really did not want to trek that far in the winter and not be able to see into the barn at night.

so, then the discussion of what I wanted came up and he told me to go check it out and give him measurements.....his mistake. I measure the fenced area and knew I wanted it at least 12' wide so I walked back to him and said I want is 12 x 50 with electric and water.

He looked at me and said welllll we can do that but what about a little shorter and adding a lean to on one end for storing tools and such. I said Okay what are you suggesting...he said about to here and stood where he thought was good which was about 12 x 35 and I said how about here and stood about 4 feet from him and said about 12 x 40 which gives me a 8 x8 sotrage and incubation room, 3 8 x8 chicken pens and 1 8 x 8 for the ducks which I can split into two smaller areas for the 2 breeds and he said "okay".

So...anyone got about 5,000 I can borrow to build this beast of a coop? hahahahaha I did get offered free bricks by a new neighbor so that will be the foundation and I am looking for a refurb store here and watching the papers, CL and such for windows and doors and etc. Meanwhile, they sleep in their small coops at night and spend the day outside...if I leave, they go into the stall areas but back inside their coops at night. They are loving it. When I go out there in the morning they wait patiently for me to get them situated for the day.

O my gosh, Cetawin, that sounds great!!! I can visualize also- as that is about 1/2 my horse barn- perfect!!!! And how nice to get free brick!

Kathy- start packing eggs for that girl!
