Where in California are you, I'm in the Bay Area? I'm growing out 6 young Dels right now, with 24 more in the incubator that are due to hatch around the middle of May.

Are you interested in cockerels and pullets?

I sure hope I have eggs then. Beth should have eggs, too, I bet! We should all have eggs available for anyone wanting them. Claudia (allaboutdemchicks) sells them now, too, and Kathy (popcornpuppy). I know there are others with Isaac background that are available also.

You are only 4 hrs from me but I hardly go that way..I hatched out 20 or so that are 3 weeks right now way better than McM's. I haven't tried figuring out boys from girls yet it just warmed up here. I made an Ohio brooder and they were spending most of their life under it.

I have meat birds with them so in a few more weeks I will separate them out evaluate them and band the ones I plan on keeping. I'll be taking pics for all of you to comment on. This set of chicks are way bigger than the first group and feathering a little faster. I just had to vent a bit because I was disappointed feeding all those junky birds just to butcher and some of them are tiny I guess I'm having a 4th of July Bar-B-Q at my house! I hope they taste good.

You bet I will have eggs this fall- and will WANT to send some out and see what people hatch out!

Kathy- that white BR is pretty cool- guess you have to start another breeding group????

I gotta say though .... these eggs were HUGE!!! is that typical of BRs? Do they all lay huge eggs? They all hatched a day late, as well. I was beginning to worry that I had a bad hatch!

Kathy....my last hatch of Col Rocks was a day later than the RIRs, BOs and Ameracaunas that were in there with them. My BBS rocks typically hatch on Day 20, so go figure.

I think it's really neat that you got a little "genetic present" in your rocks

I saw the Brahma BSA thing this morning....nearly $700 for a dozen eggs??!! I think someone has more money (or prehaps ego)than good sense....don't think I've ever seen Coronation eggs go for that much.

I had to "dispatch" my bad Blue Rock roo yesterday. I tried putting my best 17 week old Col Rock roo in there in place of him and the girls attacked him...repeatedly. Gonna try to introduce him a little each day while they free range.

My del girsl are laying up a storm...4 a day regularly out of my 4 newest girls. L'il Bit and Sasha, who knows??!! Maybe they are laying in the woods while they're out, but I never seem to get anything regularly from them.

Hope everyone is well. Cool, windy and overcast here today. Supposed to be down in the 40s tonight and thunderstorms tomorrow.

Have a great afternoon

Scott

Scott, I am sorry about your "bad" roo- hopefully you can get your girls to accept the young one- and YES! It is regular spring weather - I am having a great day in the garden!!!

My Del girls are giving me 5 to 6 eggs daily quite regularly- I still have someone laying a membrane egg, no matter how much oyster shell I put out. I am literally pouring it down them- hope I don't have a real problem girl. Lizzie can stand on both legs, upright, now, but still can't walk. She is laying almost everyday, eats and poops well, so I know she must be getting better. If I have to, I will turn the dog house coop over to her and try to find her a gentle friend if she doesn't totally heal.

Kathy- where there is a will, there is a way. . . .

How can you leave that beautiful white rock all by it's lonesome?

Scott has all the Rocks .... think I should send this one to him, yes?

Glad to hear Lizzie is doing better. I was wondering about her.

There ya go .... Those looking for Delaware eggs! Scott has them! Scott, do you hatch and ship?
