Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Laura,
I am so glad you posted pictures! They look great. Don't ya love how the green background makes them stand out so nice. I love watching my chickens free range and run all over the place. I bet you are right .... they are trying to figure a way to get into that garden!

Fergus looks to be a good sized boy, and so do your girls! Love those nice bright yellow legs and, too! Do you have more Delawares? Are yours friendly and always wanting attention? I love that trait in mine.

If they can't figure out a way in they will use mind control on you what ever you do don't look them in the eye

mine convinced me to leave the chain off the gate so they could eat better food than what I had left for them and were having a gay ole time....Your Rooster is a handsome fella how old is he? The pullets look nice and big and chunky Zephyrcreek has very nice stock. I've hated to tell them about my wonderful weather here

since I sent them that hot weather it was 110 here for several days I just don't have the humidity that they get....

Thanks, I have another little boy that was a bit younger then the rest when I got them so he is still in the baby pen. He was actually supposed to be a she but I am ok with having an extra roo. As far as the dellies go I have the two boys and three girls. I couldn't remember how old Ellen said they were but they are about the same size as my 13 week olds. The last I heard from Ellen she was fighting a bout of bronchitis. The very first night I brought the dells home the girls jumped right on my lap. They are very friendly. The boys are a bit stand offish but I have noticed Fergus coming up to see me a little closer and closer.

My girls are angels they quickly untie my shoes every chance they get come running up to the fence when they see me and many of mine just like to be picked up and talked too I guess....my roos started off the friendliest but as they get older they let the girls come up first and they share the goodies with them very well when they were younger it was first come first serve now they just call the girls and take what the girls. don't get

Scott...that entire barn is his (unless I go ahead and get a horse or two). Hence my big new coop and now the need for several smaller ones for the bantams...ah the price he must pay for having the whole barn.

Germaine...I hope you catch the culprit. I know that numb feeling all too well. All I did was cry and feel numb for a week after I lost Thor. I still have crying jags and find myself calling him or looking for him when I am not thinking about it. Almost instinctively looking for him.

The little Dellie/EE cross that just hatched has a new name. After talking to Cyn and announcing that it looks like an owl when you look it directly in the face (a bad thing that because it is a dellie afterall)...s/he has been named Hedwig! hahahaha

The blue cockerel we are getting from Sarah (scbatz33) has been named by Cheyenne a couple weeks back....Lancelot. He is a very dark blue. I will get pics of him this weekend when I deliver Baize and pick him up.

Lancelot - hmmm- then if you have another boy in your bunch he had best be Arthur (or Artos) and if one is a girl you are stuck with Guinevere.

Hedwig is a great name for June's baby~!

Laura, those kids look good! And you will let them in the garden shortly. . . . . .

I had the best time last night being snuggly with my kids - everyone's losses recently make me want to spend more time with mine, if that is possible. My old gelding is getting his nose bent out of shape. He is pouting over the fence line when I am in the run. Julian is stalking me all the way around the perimeter-
I told Boo he is already famous, and upholding the line of Suede quite nicely - he didn't respond, as his face was down in the yogurt dish at the time.

Kathy- I will try to post pics of Spot sometime today as he is definitely showing cuckoo markings, I think.

The end of August can't get here fast enough

To add to the misery, Colby saw 2 coyotes yesterday, chasing deer thru the food plot where the chooks like to hang out. Guess I'll put him outside with his .22 caliber air rifle and give him "shoot to kill" orders.

Everyone stay cool....

Off to work
