Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Chks- that first picture of Ellis is really a nice shot- he is looking good! Don't you love it when all the animals get along so well?

Cetawin, I thought that too, until Harriet hatched three out of four babies that were Orp crosses- but I am going to spend a little more time watching- I hate being a voyeur, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I have figured a way to add one more entry to my coop/run set up that would make it easy for Ultrasuede and the Orp girls to meet on neutral ground, or let him into their area more easily.
Here are some updates on those Dellie/Orp crosses and my one little Del-
Kathy graciously contacted some of the genetics experts for me who said the male Orp crosses would have spots on their heads (like BR) and that they would either be Blue or Cuckoo- I think Spot is definitely going to be a Cuckoo.
Here he is obligingly stretching out in the sun so I can photograph his splendid little markings:

Here is Emma, who is showing a LOT of color already, can't see it so much here, but its' there> She voluntarily jumped up on my lap this morning. I love it!

Boo would NOT be photographed. He said a hero must keep a sense of mystique about him, and not let people know too much or they will constantly be contacting him to chase hens and predators about.

Belle said, very distinctly, " I am taking after my Aunt Athena. Diss you all, kiss my beginners fluff."

And that is what's new in the WNC chapter of Dellie World today.

ChksontheRun what great pics! I love the pics of Ellis.

joletabey your babies are adorable. Spot looks quite relaxed, Emma is a beauty and love Belle's attitude!

Beth, Aren't genetics so weird? A Cuckoo Orpington! Your babies are looking great. Boo is right about that, too!

ChksontheRun, Wow, Ellis is really growing! Lucky you, having a photogapher around. Those pictures are fabulous!

pinkchick, they have been penned 1 week. I like to wait 4 weeks, to be sure they will be pure. So, should have eggs beginning Aug 20. Congrats on the new Delaware coop!

You are gonna love them!

Take your time Ms. Kathy, whenever you and the girls are ready. We have decided that Dellies are going to be the heritage breed that we help conserve. Man-o-man what a list of birds to choose from that need help, hard decision, but I think we are really going to love the Delawares.

Beth, since that is Suede's grandson, he got his daddy's semi-hidden barring gene. Remember the chick called Random? He was completely barred like a black sexlink rooster. Of course, with mama being a Dellie, he has it coming from both sides.
