Has anyone ordered Delawares from Stromburg's Hatchery before? I know it's a hatchery but many say they're quality is much better because of their suppliers. Pictures would be awesome!

I have heard that Whitmore farms has some nice delawares. I was going to order some but since you have to order 25 plus the shipping that is more than I can afford. I only wanted a few from them anyway. I have some delawares that I got from Zephyrcreek last spring that I am planning on breeding.

Hey! I see you're in Michigan

How far from the Owosso area are you? I may be interested in maybe going in on an order with you.

Hi ndemerly,

I am about 2 hours north west from Lansing. Have you ever gone to the Michigan chickenstock? I don't think I have ever seen you on the Michigan thread, here it is, https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=233&p=1673 We would be glad to see you there. There haven't been any plans for the 2011 chickenstock yet but it has been in Lansing the past 2 years. I would love to split an order with you. I was only wanting to get a few of the delawares and a few of their welsummers. No more than 10 total. I went to their website and they look like nice birds.

My rooster, Jacob, will eat of my hand. I have not had an aggressive Delaware. My Barred Rocks are not aggressive either. I think hatchery stock has been known to be aggressive, as I have read stories, but have no experience in. I raised 8 RIR roosters together, and none of them were aggressive either. I dunno, but I can say, my Delawares are the friendliest of all my breeds ...... both sexes are.

I believe disposition is in the breeding. Mean birds produce mean birds.....or so it seems. I have never had a meran Rock, but I have judged a few.

Shouldn't your man be toting some bales or something Kathy? hahaha

See the shovel and broom in the picture? He was being helpful by bringing them to me. His job, that day, was to hold the chair down and be entertained by the antics of the flock, during commercial breaks from some (sports) game on TV. Men........
