I'd say she enjoyed her day at the spa!!

Just look at the contentment in her eyes at having all of that attention lavished on her. No matter what she may be, genetically speaking, we know one thing that is irrefutable.....She is one very loved little hen!

Cyn, the little one that has the hole? Is it in any of your most recent pics? If he/she is, I sure can't tell which one it is. How's it doing today? Hopefully even better than yesterday!

I immediately thought of Superchick, Beth. This one's intestines were not out as much as that other baby's were, but the span between side of the gap was larger and we couldn't really do a great job with super glue. Tom actually took a stitch with invisible thread while trying to keep its insides inside. It was eating egg last night, but so far not sure if it's eating starter. Now, it's up to the little one to sink or swim. It is keeping its eyes open now, which is a great sign.

I have been reading this thread for several weeks (although I am no where near done reading all of it!!!!!) and I wanted to stop in and say hey. I am very interested in this breed. I did order some from purely poultry, but wish now that I would have sought out a breeder to try to get my start. I am now searching for a breeder that may be able to help me get started so that I too can help perpetuate this bird. I live in southwestern Indiana and would be willing to drive 3 hours one way (maybe more) to pick up chicks.

Thanks so much

Hi Stevenson, I will be breeding the dels that I have soon, well as soon as I have a hen go broody but I think I am probably more than 3 hours away

yes! I can't get over how friendly she is not even "knowing" us. She was very cooperative. My daughter was tickled pink to wash a chicken!

I see the baby drink, but haven't seen it at the feeder. It's very tiny compared to others that hatched that day, but the navel looks good and it toddles around and keeps going even when the big rambunctious hellions knock it over. Hope it will eat on its own. I know it can see just fine.
