cant wait for my delawares and australorps to hatch, too. guess we picked 2 good breeds there. have had the australorps for about a year and i am impressed with their laying and their temperament and overall hardiness. hope the delawares are impressive, too. my third breed is the cubalaya, another heritage breed that lays well and has a good temperament and very hardy. have had them about 5 years and will always keep some cubalayas in the yard, if the Lord lets me. had dominiques for about 20 years but their temperament is kinda mean and they are kind of tough eating. they were hardy, good layers, and rustled their own food . have had easter eggers for about 8 years but am phasing them out as i am not crazy about green eggs. had production reds and true rir, had barred rocks, had marans, had games, jersey giants and all of them had their good points as a breed but for some reason they are no longer here. the cubalaya and the australorp will stay here. hopefully the delaware will , too.
