Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

In order to hopefully help the wing angle of my delawares, I removed the ramp that led to the roost. I am going to force them to use their wings more!

On another note, I have several hen (mostly) that have decided that they prefer to sleep under the coop (have been doing it for about a week). I have also found a couple of eggs under the coop as well. I am wondering if I should fence off that area for a while and make them realize they shouldn't be there for that reason....what do you all think?

I think that is a GREAT idea, Michael!

It shouldn't take long, especially if they have plenty of room where you WANT them to go.

My girls miss the nest box if they all want to lay in the same one at the same time- the occasional egg in "protest" spots is funny. I have seen them three deep, lined up and waiting for the upper right hand box. Eventually someone gives up and goes out in the yard, squawking away.

PLEASE HELP!

Single comb breeds usually have a tiny comb at hatch... w/Dels, you should be able to tell around 5ish weeks, when the combs will grow a bit more on the boys, and redden slightly. Congrats on the hatch

cooka- if you post a picture in the next category down, there are lots of people who can help you decide when the time comes. Is it a Dellie?

Jeff, that is really sweet of you - I need to scroll back and catch up!
Hope to post some of my juvies- they are about 18 weeks and I am getting to the point where I think I can start choosing. Would love to have opinions!
