How many GF have you culled/killed? There’s no chance you’re gonna do it without tracking breeding perfectly and culling all but the absolute best.

agree. I am not doing it. and probably not the guy to do it.

I have killed some sick chickens. I usually sell or give away what I dont want to breed. Thats how I cull. I dont have to kill something to not breed it.

Just because I bred it doesnt mean I have to breed it.

Agree. I just brought up blue fowl because we all familar with them. They were at one point probably a joke to serious gamefowl folks. But time has proven them wrong.

Some people like maintaining what works already. Some people like creating new things.

I personally like creating. I like failing and learning from it and then trying again.

Metaphor alert!!!! I would never buy a McDonald's franchise. I would rather build up my own hamburger restaurant, even if it doesn't perform well at the start. I would keep working on it and maybe one day it'll be some great hamburger empire (or not),... either way it would be mine and I would own it.

I’d agree with some of this. There’s nothing wrong with creating your own but when it comes to gamefowl you’re not breeding in blue egg laying sh*t birds and then breeding it all out and still be the same caliber of what’s out there. That’s a total waste of time. I’d totally agree with obtaining proven bloodlines and then crossing whatever your little heart desires to make them your own. I have quite a few crosses penned right now. They aren’t just 50/50 either.

You’re giving away or selling gamefowl that don’t even meet your standards? To GF people or someone who just wants a pet rooster? There’s a difference.

They are good and will do what they are intended for.
I have limited room and try to only keep the ones I want to breed. I wish I could keep all of them. But I usually keep what I think is the best.

Everyone has limited room. Why would you want to keep all of them? You’re not gonna make me believe they’re all equal. Not a chance.

I have nothing against making crosses, setting a family or freshing up blood but the point is to never go backwards.

no they arent all equal... I just like them all because I bred them and watched them grow up. They have sentimental value to me. And I like them to live well.

Like my children... They arent equal, but they both have strengths and weaknesses. Eventually I will have to let them go into the real world.. I would want to kill any of my children, they should at least get the chance to prove themselves in the real world.

Livestock isn't a child this is why we Gamefowl are in the spot we are in. All of my kids are adopted they aren't pacified nor without but they sure ain't a dang chicken they love chicken nuggets!

I grew up what one would call poor father passed at 4 and heck we even lived out of dumpsters for years because times do get tough and i learned you gotta have some thick skin and do what's needed. When it comes to animals especially livestock type I can separate myself from them I don't see them as humans or like a dog remotely.

I surely hope my kids grow up knowing yeah you shouldn't enjoy killing things but if it's a necessity or for the better then I hope they do just that.
