Show Off Your Games!

L&Schickens :

I just got these two today. They are "Millie Flure" (sp?) Old English Game Bantams. My son wants to show them. I think they are cool little guys.

(We will only be showing them as "young" birds, because I will not dub King Julian.

Hi ameraucanacrazy! I'm sure your 4th photo is a Silver Grey Dorking Pullet. You are lucky as they are wonderful layers, once they get started---6 white eggs per week. They have a really nice gentle temprement. The males are good to eat & are very good looking. They are a bit flighty though! The hens tend to loose the feathers on their backs from the attention of the roos--so use chicken saddles! The Victorians used them as table- birds and the Romans imported them into Britain as a useful utility bird. they originally were a Meditteranean breed. I love them and plan to get lots more. Hope that helps! Hattie.

Hi AGAIN! Forgot to say that it's NOT of course a Game bird but if you crossed her with a Cornish Roo (what we in the UK call Indian Game) you would get an even better eating bird. One other thing I didn;t say about Dorking hens is that they make great broodies & mothers but you shouldn't let them do it until they are in their 2nd year! Hattie

dorking silver duckwing/golden duckwings have white legs though, she has blue.. and dorkings are a little bigger (body shape wise). I do see the characteristics like a rose comb, and the body is kind of big.. But really she could be a part phoenix.
