Nice birds. Quick question for the oriental gamefowl people. Is it Asil or Aseel. And is it pronounced like the plant basil or like my truck blew a seal.

Asil,or Aseel, is an old Turkish word which was adapted into the Arabic language as well. Asil directly translates as: true, pure, clean, and is a masculine word. In it's original language Turkish, as well as in Arabic, pronounced as "A-sill". As per your question; more like the British version annunciation of Basil, but still, close but not quite the same sound. It is: "A SILL ". In Uzbek and Kazakh Turkish, sounds more like; A shil. I have heard it being pronounced in both forms.

Turkish is one of the ancient Asian languages. The Western alphabet was adapted during the early part of 20th. century, therefore Asil, or Aseel, are both Western versions of spelling of the same word.

Turkish is one of the languages I can speak, and of course read & write. No, I am not Turkish! I am an American woman who is proud to be one!

I hope this helps!

how big weight wise and tall wise do hatches usually get?
i take you are talking about the Hatch family of gamefowl ......... they should normally run about 4 lb up(anywhere in between) to 6 lb but there are some on occasion that weigh a little more than 6 lb and a few that might go under 4 lb .
This is about the same for most of our american gamefowl .
