Don't think you will get any height on your chickens by adding oriental blood .... all of the crosses i've seen are about the same as American Games (sometimes just a little shorter) .I have been trying to get that look from selectively breeding my hatches that are taller... I have never bred an asil but looking at that photo I think I should get one or two to add to my breeding program. Do you know if there is a preference to have a AGFcock to an Asil hen or Asil cock to AGF hen? Does it matter?
You can post a pic of every one in your yard if you want to, i just like doing it because it gives everybody a chance to see different kinds of gamefowl.
GAME ROOSTER CONTEST ROUND (2) I NOMINATE GALLO4319 TO BE THE JUDGE. EVERYBODY POST A PIC OF YOUR GAME ROOSTER, THEN ON FRIDAY GALLO4319 CAN DECIDE WHO PLACES. THEN FOR THE NEXT CONTEST GALLO4319 CAN PASS THE JUDGING TO SOMEONE ELSE.
yes I gree with you.upthecreek's suggestion of looking for AGs with the look you want, is a good one, but now, you will and can add height to your birds if using the right Oriental breed. Even some Asils, however, some Asil are indeed 'short', especially most of those ued with AG grades, which I believe is what UTC is most familiar with. For your purposes, I think adding the right Oriental blood would be great. They should add some good build and muscle, as well as leg and neck. Best of all, they are real tame and 'curious' creatures. My Asil beat my AGs when it comes to personality, ease of working with, and interesting-ism. But there are larger OGs such as Shamo, large Thai and large Brazilians, and others, that would work for your project. As far as which way to breed, do both and see what's best for you. But they do say that the hen will trow the cock, so decide what exactly you want most there.
