Show Off Your Games!

Being a study of the poop, I think the green foliage is essential for all games if top health is to be realized long-term. Even some dual purpose breeds benefit from free-choice access. In my eyes it is not just grasses, rather legumes figure in at least as much.

Best way to measure your birds grass likes in your area is to let it at the grass and observe what they are going after. So much can be learned by just being observant. Even a simple wire drop pen that allows them access to grass about the yard does wonders for your birds health and mental wellbeing.

I moved into a new house and my yard doesnt have grass yet... (living in a semi-desert area). There is a natural rye grass that grows in the winter but that hasnt arrived yet. I try to grow as much barley grass as I can to feed the cooped up chickens. If I dont have grass I try to feed them other greens like lettuce, spinach, and brocolli. All my freerange chickens eat my neighbor's grass. Thanks for the food advice everyone, good info about the dog food sodium and calcium (from lay mash). I only feed dog food as a weekly treat. not enough to cause any problems i dont think. Barley Grass
my canary & green singing inches love that kind of grass as well . The chickens go bonkers for it lol
