I got 5 yokohama and 8 sumarta and 1 red junglefowl chicks the day before yesterday and my red junglefowl and one yokohama was dead this morning I don't know how they died they looked and acted healthy

Oh and watch out for peeping chicks, normally they are the ones that don't make it. If they pep and peep they are normally the ones that die.

Anyone doing anything to combat chicks getting wet from dew in morning hours. I no longer have buildings for them so they have to run about through grass and that is hard on them when the little guys get wet. I have been mowing grass really short in the past which works but I was also considering not going out into yard until late in the evening to tend broody hens so as not to disturb them as much when grass is wet.
