Here is the photo of my cockerel with the "infected" comb. If anyone has any advice or have seen this before please help!

Around here its called wart head but it is fowl pox most likely contracted it through mosquito bites

It is a herpes virus more than likely he will get over it if he stays eating and not get in too bad of shape from it its is bad when it gets in the mouth/nares(mucous areas) then it is wet pox/ulcers/cankers which is really hard on them not too much to treat it with (virus) but a good vitamin water for him to sip on would help and as long as it doesn't hinder his eating in time most get thru it. this will hit them around adolesence esp in pullets right before or at POL/puberty like. It is related and some say a form of Mareks.

kinda ooks like fowl pox... my cockrel had it as did my older 2yo cock! it took about 2-4wks to resolve... I gave tylan 100/ 0.5mL injected into the breast if that helps... try to find a broad spectrum antibiotic to clear it up... I will double check with my doc to make sure...
hope that helps!

Thanks.. I looked up fowl pox and its looks just like this. I isolated him in a cage in the tack shed to prevent the possibly that it may spread to other chickens. We dont have a mosquitoe problem in my area so I dont how he could have got it... I have never been bit by one or even seen one. though it is possible.

I have tyolsin 100 (or 200) but I probably wont give him any. I dont think an antibiotic will help against a virus. I think I will just keep him isolated until it clears up. Vitamin water and clean bedding. I sprinkled some diatemasous earth on him to dry up any wet legions and keep any bugs off.

Thanks Everybody for you help!
