Spangling operating over a wheaton base? Overall base coloration looks wheaton.

I have never even held a spangled game but will look into genetic basis behind it. I have seen it on wheaton and black base colorations.

I would hold off deciding on anything until the bird gets adult feathers in, sometimes lots of changes occur between juvenile and adult feathering.

Haha... My daughters would agree with you 100%.. they took this photo and about 100 others on my phone.

This is my first "real" hatch this year. This is going to be a problem because I had a hen sitting on 10 eggs... well while she was sitting the other hens would kick her out and lay a new egg... so she ended up with about 22 eggs. When the first ones hatched I reached under her and pulled out all the eggs minus the 4 chicks that she already hatched. I put all the eggs in the incubator. And I expect that everyday (or 2 days) a new chick will hatch.

11 total so far.. the 4 I let her keep... then I had 6 hatch the same time... but a new one hatched last night (or early this morning).

they are about as sweet as can be, I sure hope some of the OEG's eggs that I got hatch out. That way I can enjoy them. All chicks are cute but to me the games are just so much sweeter, I guess because they are so tiny.
