I haven't figured out how to reattach a head that has been eaten off...

I was able to do it once. Problem is I accidentally put the head back on the wrong bird.

My biggest problem is hawks. I have contemplated netting a run area, but just can bring myself to do that yet.

I’ll never put up a net like that. They look terrible, hold snow, too expensive etc.. I get way too much heavy wet snow that would bring most setups down in a heartbeat. It would cost me thousands to cover my run anyway so that isn’t happening.

I’m trapping a Beagle Hunt club property. They had a huge rabbit breeding pen that was completely covered with netting. Huge steel uprights and all. Last March we had a storm come though with heavy wet snow and winds. Collapsed their whole set up. Bent every single upright. The netting is still good but the uprights need replacing. It’s a $10k set up. Same place had over 100 rabbits killed by a mink and I think that weasel had some help in it too.

Ouch! I wasn't thinking anything that elaborate. Probably best to keep it in the idea/planning stage...

My duck run is covered with net. It did collapse the first year with heavy wet snow. Now I hit it with a wide squeege to knock the snow thru, when it gets heavy.

But it will hold a duck! Lol

I think if i was gonna do a decent size run for biddies noting crazy and had a few grand laying around id use tin then a few feet of metal wire and so on and so on.

Lol. No kidding. If I were to cover my run mine would have to be even bigger and more expensive.

I think if i was gonna do a decent size run for biddies noting crazy and had a few grand laying around id use tin then a few feet of metal wire and so on and so on.

I’m talking a big area not a tiny little run. Even then you would have to have it supported pretty well so it wouldn’t buckle under the weight of snow.
