Nice pics, Doodle. How did you rescue that whitehackle?.......Pop
my uncle has a friend who has games and told him i also had birds..but mine are ornamental breeds..phoenix,sumatra,yokohamas..but i went anyway just to see since he told me he was selling some cheap i said couldnt hurt to look..
i went over and yes he had great birds all in clean pens and stuff..but as we were about to leave i saw his dog scratching and barking at something told the guy about it and when we went over and saw why he said its othing its just the training rooster..
i asked why training..he told me that when he gets males that arent that livly he uses them as training buddies for the real aggresive ones to practice on..it bothered me that he just had him to one side and so beat up like that..i asked him how much forthe bird and he just laughed..
when he saw i was serious he just said give me 40 he's no good anyway and they had him separate since he is already 2 years old and they were going to eat him anyway,,so now he is here with me and hopefully he will live the rest of his days in peace..need to get hi some girls..
right now i have him in a single pen until he puts on some weight and feathers out since the dog ripped out his tail..(what was left of it)
he is a very jumpy bird and scared of being held but hope to get him to trust me
so he doesnt have to always be in a pen and let him out to
free range with the rest of the birds..
Dunghills. Tuzo x Americauna/Wyandotte crosses. They have enough game in them to beat the crap out of each other but not so much that they kill each other. Lots of beak holds and it shows. Real fun. I just have not gotten around to culling them yet.

Way to go Doodle. Can`t vouch for yours, but I`ve seen dunghills like that recover and become star quality. Seems that some just get a late start in life, or are kept beat down by interraction from early life and just don`t recover for whatever reason. The few that I have seen recover have done so by being seperated from previous owners and given good care and a hen or two, while not interracting with other cocks, if you get my drift. Since you have "pets", he should get really handsome and be a fine squire for his ladies. Thanks for the expaination..........Pop
