Show off your house ducks!

@Jessica89 they are tough to fit at that age because they are so teeny, but not out of the realm of doing. I use fleece because it is soft and stretchy. Basically trace the outline of the baby. (Easier said than done because they wiggle)

The bottom part is cut into a wide tapered end and a hole placed for the neck (not too big or they will walk out of the hole, and not too small or it will bind up the crop. Takes a bit of trial and error...)

The top piece is tapered at the level of the legs, and narrow so that it fits between the wings on the back comfortably.

You sew the back end together up to the level of the legs and are good to go. You can use Velcro to fasten it, or nylon webbing and a clasp, but I just use a safety pin for the little ones.
It takes a little trial and error to get a good fit. Missy's diaper went through about 4 modifications before I had it fitting her the way I wanted it.

Thank you so so much. It is going to be a right mission with my little wiggler. I can;t believe a duckling can poo so much! It's every couple of minutes.
I will pop to the local craft shop and buy the material tomorrow: )

I am picking up some goslings tonight - they should be small enough to fit into one of the diapers I have handy for a reference shot. Rearranged the hatchery, and most of my small diapers are buried in the stuff I moved. Missy's is huge and shaped for an adult duck, and Shorty, who is a house duck in her own mind, is too big for the ones I have out and escaped an impromptu modeling job.. Instead she's munching out on linguine fra diavolo, oblivious to how close she came to getting diapered....

What kinda duck is Shorty? Could you post pics of her and the new goslings?

Shorty is a Khaki Campbell - she was a singleton hatch, and considers the Toulouse goslings, now about 4 times her size, as siblings...

Shorty wanted her daddy - we had been out most of the day for our anniversary. She had to cuddle with daddy a lot to make up for it (she is a daddy's girl...)

We named the embden goose Persephone. The pomeranian goose and gander are still nameless...

The Toulouse siblings found that the wind blew over the garbage can lid... Filled with rain water, it became an instant play tub. They were just sexed on Friday - two geese and a gander.. Have to figure out names for them as well. I'm leaning towards D'Artagnan for the gander (seeing as I named his father Aramis...)

I'm absolutely in love with Shorty! And the goose names are precious xD If the one goose is Persephone, maybe the other could be Demeter? Or maybe Artemis!

Shorty is absolutely adorable getting loves from your husband. Your geese are so cute. I am starting to develop an affection for them now after seeing them here and reading about their antics. The middle picture of them piled together is too much.
