X2 Also, with Florida's laws, he may be considered "released" if he flies outside of your property and could be put down or you could be in whatever trouble releasing a Muscovy entails (again I am not a resident of Florida nor a legal expert.) But I do love ducks and now have a special place in my heart for Muscovies (although I don't have one - they'd freeze up here!)What ever happened it looks to be right where the foot and leg join. I'd go with Amiga's advice on the Epsom salt soaks or wraps. Once he begins to heal and before he has a chance to fly again[since there is so many dangers just laying in wait out there] I'd clip one of his wings. That way you'll keep him home and he won't have to go through this again.
He's a beautiful Muscovy. I hope it's just a sprain. I'd keep him fairly immobile right now because the more he tries to walk on it the worse it may get.

If u have a backyard then u could keep him there I had to move my Muscovies from free range to the only 2 acre back yard ( I say only bc they had 8) and they have coped pretty well ( but I still think it's awful that they have to stay back there) and all bc our frekin neighbors that moved to Alabama when they sent in their complaint, complained about them just walking over to his yard and it wasn't even his yard bc he didn't take even go over to that side of their house much.... So yeah if u have a back yard then that's a good idea
Just remember, Epsom salt is a laxative! Don't let him drink or eat it!![]()
