Show off your house ducks!

Pet Stores are closed.poly is what I came get rite now. I'm not sure how I feel about syringe feeding or watering. As the smallest cvs had probably won't due. I was able to get him to open his mouth to receive two drops of water. How do I administer the poly?
You can try to use a syringe, but without a tube small enough and the experience to know which pathway to go down, you risk squirting it down into his air sacs instead of his stomach. :/ But without getting nutrients into him, he may not have a chance. That's what saved Bean's life when she had pneumonia the other week. Are you at least able to get some antibiotics? It may not do much if it's not the right type to target whatever microbes he's got, but it's better than nothing... I think we all need some cheering up, so I took a video of Wobbles chasing a laser pointer. I hope it can bring a smile to your faces, if nothing else. ._.
It's hard to do on a bird so teeny. I also wouldn't know where to source feeding tubes tiny enough, would you? We get ours through a specific veterinary supply manufacturer in Tacoma. I dunno, maybe petco or a pharmacy would have tubes small enough, do you think?

Perhaps the ones for hand rearing smaller members of the parrot family - cockatiels, conures, love birds, etc. you can sometimes find that at PetCo.

I would also give an injection of antibiotic. Even at that size he should have a decent amount of breast muscle to inject into. For the gram positive stuff, I use aqueous Pen-G (you can get it at TSC) my adult ducks get 1 mL IM, but he is so tiny I'd do no more than 0.25mL. Fortunately, with penicillin, any extra gets cleared by the body and doesn't cause toxicity (and why it's my go to antibiotic for a variety of species when I'm sure I don't have a gram negative or fungal infection.)
Also, since he's not eating, I would open his mouth and check his tongue and throat for signs of a fungal infection (white patches on the mouth, tongue, and throat). Pen-G wouldn't touch that, and would require immediate treatment with antifungals.

Hopefully he pulls through!!!!
besides a vet where would one get antibiotics given the time feed stores aren't open.also regarding the poly VI Sol since he is not eating or drinking how do I administer and how much

Since penicillin shots were mentioned here I thought I'd share some info on it:
Penicillin G

Quote: Do you have any human antibiotics like Cipro, Augmentin or Amoxicillin? Any of those could be used by crushing and adding some water, then giving a few drops. If you have any, let me know and I will try to figure out a dose. Poly Vi Sol would be just a drop or two.

They did nor have tubes. i got poly v sol and baby food. the dropper that came with the poly is tiny. A 1ml syringe. After watching several videos, each twice I made my first attempt. 11:45pm - 25ml of water. Success! Next I gave him a drop of poly. And then .75ml water, .25ml at a time. Finally time for baby food. .75ml 2x, .50ml at a time. After each time he was given baby food I offered him water, he gladly took a sip. "Source feeding went well. Now how often do I feed him, and give poly?

I do vitamins once a day. Water is more important than food right now, so get as much into him as possible.
