OEGB's are great flyers. Good distance and height. Mine try to fly away every time I have them out. That would be ok, but I've got a fox always looking for an easy meal.

Thank you. She's the only lemon black pullet I got this year. All her siblings were blues or sports.

I heard they were good but didn't think they were that good, they're like Pigeons!

What did you cross to get the lemon black?

Lemon blacks are produced in a lemon blue X lemon blue breeding, along with lemon blues and lemon blue sports. They're brown reds that are not from brown red parents.

I've only been breeding OEGB seriously about 3 years. Went to my first show this year. It's taken me that long to get really good birds going. There's a bit of a learning curve, lol.

I can see by the little amount of reading I've been doing. You almost have to be a geneticist. There is supposed to some kind of subtle differences in lemon blues and brown reds, isn't there?

In lemon blues and brown reds it's not so subtle. I've not raised enough lemon blacks to say how much they're different from the brown reds, but this particular lemon black is prettier than any brown red pullet I've seen.
