Show off your Old English Game Bantams!!

Pics
We bought our sons a trio of Self Blue OEG bantams on Saturday. They are beautiful birds! My oldest is wanting to get into showing and raising them to sell, and I just couldn't pass them up for $40 for the roo and two hens. My little roo cracks me up - he starts crowing at 6:45am, and crows until I open the coop door. He's always the first one out and about, and then he crows again and the hens come out. I guess it's his way of letting them know it's safe to come out.

Such personality! They're quite friendly little birds. I still can't get over their coloring. They look more lavender than blue - very pale gray, irridescent hackle feathers that shimmer blue/purple in the sunlight.

I'll add that the smaller pasture right next to the house is where I'm keeping them. We wanted to be biosecure with new, mature birds since we have 30 6-weeker full-size birds that just went out to their coop and pasture yesterday. We were also worried that with their size, they might get picked on by the bigger birds once they mature more. So, for now, they're in their own little area with their own smaller coop (renovated rabbit pen) and I've got to figure out what to do for a nest. The guy told me that one of the hens was laying, but I've yet to see an egg yesterday or today. I think it's a lack of a place to lay. Going to try to rectify that today!

I'll post photos later of them - they really are pretty little birds and so full of themselves!

The shock of moving and being somewhere unfamiliar to them with make them stop laying for awhile also. Put a nice box in there, let them get used to their surroundings, and soon they should be laying again.

OEGB???? Husband brought these babies home. Does anyone know what breed they are? Can add more pics if needed.

Here's some photos of our self blue (although they look more lavender to me) OEGB that I took this morning when they came out of the coop.

Mr. Fantastic:

And his ladies:

They really are beautiful birds! Planning to build/install the nesting box this afternoon when my toddler goes down for his nap. Hopefully, they'll get acclimated soon and start laying some eggs! He HAS been giving the girls a workout the past couple of days. LOL
