I've never raised hatchery birds, most of them aren't no where near the SOP for the breed

Usually they're way too big, but I have raised some pretty pullets. The hatchery's goal is to produce huge numbers of chicks. They have no idea which bird is mated to another. Very difficult to produce quality that way.

I started out raising a few hatchery OEGB, but I don't have any of that blood left in my pens. Unless you just want a few for the yard, you're better off buying good blood to start with.

Yeah they're other goal is to make hens that lay more, I've never bought from a hatchery but I might someday.

Really nice birds, my Blue Splash got out today and with one leap she flew all the way on top of a roof. Took me 5 min to get her

About 6 months. Sickles are just finishing out..

Thank you. She's the only lemon black pullet I got this year. All her siblings were blues or sports.
