Show off your Old English Game Bantams!!

Good explanation, jophus... and love that your boy has calmed down, as long as you keep your distance from the babies, lol...

Oz, it's the same principle as breeding B/B/S...

I have that problem too with uploading.

Chicken genetics get really complex, I enjoy studying them but admit I get lost sometimes.

If that roo is around the babies he is extremely careful about where he steps. There's been times he's wanted to get me, but has shown restraint because he had chicks underfoot. He's a mean one most of the year.

Can you post pics of the Roo and chicks? What was throwing me off was the hen. I didn't realize she was all black.

When I say she's black, I mean she's black-based, whereas Blue Brassy's are blue in the sense that they are blue-based. Blue, black and Splash/Sport behave the same way no matter what variety they show up in.

Here's a better pic of the hen. She's a Brassyback, and her base color is black.

Which roo and chicks do you want to see? My lemon blue and his adopted Brown Red chicks?

I'll figure it out one day....maybe. :) I guess that's why I just had whites and BBR. She does look much darker in this photo. Yes, a photo of the roo and chicks. Don't see that often.

I was the same way Oz, and then one day it just made sense. Whites are interesting because you have dominant and recessive, each with different properties.

I'm thinking we should start a Genetics thread, and learn together, lol.

I'll try to get some shots of them when I get home. It's hard, because he doesn't want me to touch them, or mess with them, or even look at them. He runs interference for the girls.

I still refer to the kippenjungle website for all my genetics questions but it doesn't work for all OEGBs. You and @RavynFallen and @WVduckchick can provide all the info and I can ask all the questions on the Genetics thread.
:)

I understand BBS and Lavender for the most part, but that's about it so far. I do want to learn more of the oegb's though, they have turned into my favorite flock.

Here's a couple of the roo with the chicks. This is my Lemon Blue breeder pen (1 roo, 3 hens). I had 5 BR eggs that I didn't have room for in the incubator and a hen that was trying to go broody. I put them in there, they added 3 LB eggs. As of right this minute they've hatched the 5 BR, there's a LB chick and I've just found an abandoned cold and wet LB sport chick in the nest. I removed it (and got bitten and spurred) and placed it in my hatcher. Maybe it will make it. It's actually warming up quick.

That rooster is so neat! I hope the little orphans survive. Looks like they'll be a pretty blue.
