the half siblings are milli fleur(sp?) X oegb and the offspring are somewhere between the two males and hen. One of the young cockerals actually has these insanely long shank feathers and feathered feet. He looks a little ridiculous sometimes running around.

Lol. That's a very interesting combination. I love the genetics of breeding and what comes from what. I have a project pair Turken x Cream Leg Bar. There's a ton of genes in there to play with.

White OEGB roo...he'll be 4 in the spring.

His son, who will be 2 in the spring, and I still haven't dubbed yet.

Blue Brassy keeper. He'll have to keep the line going. His mom and dad were killed my my neighbors pitbull.

When you sneak a rooster in your wife's studio and put them under the bright lights, this is what happens.

I finally got a chance to get a picture of at least one of my 7 week old OEGB chicks. This one is the one that puzzles me the most. She is on the right with her Buff O mom and Buff O sister to the left and if you look close you can see that she has a pretty good stubble of feathers on her legs making me wonder what she is crossed with.

I got these eggs from an Amish neighbor suspecting that they are the offspring of either an OEGB or a standard OEG Rooster. Our neighbor explained to me that he acquired the rooster from a man who had approached him with the proposition of raising fighting cocks for him. Our neighbor, a nice guy, said that didn't settle with him but the man insisted he keep the rooster anyway. I noticed that his hens and roosters were smaller than my Buff O and Welsummer cockerels and a friend wanted OEGBs so I approached our neighbor wanting to buy hatching eggs from him. He insisted on giving me 8 eggs. 5 hatched, 4 survived, all pullets I think at this point. The only think I am noticing is their color isn't anything standard. There are three with lighter heads and breasts than bodies and one with a brown head and black with brown speckled back. You can see half of her on the far right. Two have long legs, two are short legged. Two have light olive green legs one has dark olive green legs and one has yellowish legs.

Then there is Pepper with her mystery legs.......


I've got pictures of the other chicks. It was a mad dash. I got them to focus on the bowl of scrambled eggs and oat meal long enough to snap some quick pictures. These little birds are ALWAYS on the move and excellent fliers.
