Show off your Peas!

I have been lurking on diff pea fowl threads for about a year trying to gather data and ideas on hatching as live bird pick is out of the question for me I also want to try and hatch some but most folks I talked with say they have no luck in incubators , I know the eggs are down right tough in the wild the hen can lay eggs from four feet off the ground and still hatch them , but people I talk to say they have no luck what's up with that ?

Yes I've wanted peacocks for a very long time. I just got my first incubator two weeks ago, so now I'm seriously thinking about eggs. I've been looking all over the Internet and CL and paper for local places but no such lunch yet. :(
I spent quite a bit of money last spring on hatching eggs. The most I got was two that died in she'll before hatching. I'm sure there are plenty of people who have had luck, but I was not one of them- I bought adult and juvenile birds in the fall. If hatching eggs are what you want, go for it! Just be prepared for them to not hatch. Then you will be short $$ and have no peas. There are places you can get chicks in the spring. Good luck!

As zaz pointed out, there are other threads where you'll get much more information and help regarding eggs and hatching.:D
I'm looking for local eggs not shipped. Im surprised any eggs that are shipped hatch they way they Are treated even not intentional. Not many people around my parts keeps such birds. I understand there is information all over the place. And that's why I've been stalking the peafowl threads. I'm not going to jump head first into something I'm not ready for.

Oh I am so sorry for your experience that must have been heart breaking. It is one thing I am worried about. I'm doing research before I make a final decision. We are very muddy here and I don't think a pea would appreciate it so even though I say I want one (and I do I'd do anything for some) doesn't mean I'll get one :( unfortunately DH already objects to the idea. This is why I have not invested in the money for Young birds. I also want a falcon I have ever since I was I little girl. But wanting and actually getting are two different things. If something presents it self to me close by then I will take it. Unfortunately for me I'm not going out of my way to get them. Hope this clears up any misunderstanding.

Hatching pea eggs is somwhat of a science and it helps if you hatch eggs gathered from your own hens. I've been hatching my own for 3 years, going on 4 this spring so I do have experience with the incubator and buying and getting eggs shipped to me. This is why we here place so much emphasis on hatch-a-long merlot nites. It is a large triump when you get a pea happily out of the shell. My best record for one hatch-a long was 18 eggs outta 21 put in all at once.
