Show off your Peas!

I wonder, I have been feeding the peas grass when I mow the lawn, can I feed them alfalfa pellets during the winter? That way they will still get something green.

We will add pellets to the mash, it dissolves pretty quickly. We find that they will eat the dry pellets but mostly as a last resort. I have bought a bag of alfalfa 'chops' and put that in a bowl as free feed, they eat it but I would think that you could get a nice fresh bale of horse grade alfalfa and shred your own. I plan to hang slices of alfalfa bales on the pen wall for them to pick at this winter.

I am sure that they get good nutrition from it but mostly something to kill the monotony and to keep them from pecking on each other.

Here are all the bronze babies I hatched from @snowshoe eggs. And my spalding split bronze and BS from my birds, I have the spaldings mom who is a bronze BS and eventually I will have them all penned together, but I think I may be trading the bronze male for a cameo pied hen if I can talk a friend into it. I don't really need 3 males. There is also an IB BS in the pic he and my spalding are inseperable so he is in the pic as well.

And Chirpie saying "Where's my treat Mom?"
