You might be right. I haven't seen a purple hen in person. My purple is a spalding. Seabreeze, do you have more pictures of your hen?

I wonder how much Spalding Thora is based on appearance.

How can you tell the 75% spalding is not just a green peacock?
I agree her crest looks spindly and her feathers look awful tattered right before breeding season she should be looking her best.
Do you know when she was wormed last?
They are all very beautiful birds congratulations can not wait to see what hatches from them
How can I get a peahen like that color ,? Any chance I can get one out of a black shoulder male and a Indian peahean
Gosh I can't see the difference in the IB and Bronze BS. I bought a hen from a young girl and I took some pics yesterday. Is it possible to tell? Muddy mess here. Sorry for the not so pretty backdrop!!That is a Bronze Black Shoulder Peahen. Bronze is her color, while Black Shoulder is her pattern. Unless both your parent birds are split to Bronze, you cannot get Bronze color from them. Your Male is India Blue color and Black shoulder Pattern, he will pass along 1 copy of the Black Shoulder gene, however Black Shoulder is a recessive trait so unless your India Blue Barred Wing hen is also carrying(split to) a copy of the Black Shoulder gene there will not be any Black Shouldered offspring, they will all be barred wing like their momma because that is the dominant gene. Cameo Black Shoulder
All of these hens are a different color, but they are all the same pattern....... Black Shoulder.
In your last photo, I can see her "true tail" feathers sticking out from under her whiter train feathers. They are black and that to me says IB BS. Here is a photo of 2 feathers from the true tails of the IB BS hen and the Bronze BS hen, the Bronze is more of a medium brown while the IB is very black.
