I would really like to free range, and even though I live in the country, I have a few neighbors close enough that I'm not comfortable with it. My fear is that they would perch on a car and scratch it or aggravate someone with their presence in their manicured yard so I opted to just be on the safe side and keep them in a pen. Hopefully in a few years I can be closer to my goal of building a new house on more acreage further from neighbors.

In order for a bird to be a White Eye it needs 2 copies of that gene, if it has 2 copies it will have white in the center of all or almost all of the eye feathers in its train. If it has only 1 copy of the White Eye gene we say it is split to White Eye, and if it is split it will only have a couple eye feathers with white in the center. If your hen is carrying a single copy she could pass that on to the young male, but he would have to have gotten a second copy from his dad in order to end up as a White Eye. A bird that is White Eye(2 copies), will have other visible traits. such as silvering on the wing feathers. This male is a yearling and he is a pied as well as double copy White Eye. See how light in color the striped wing feathers are.
Yea I see it thank you very much for explaining ;)

If the pea can see the neighbors they most likely go there, buy a place that is surrounded by woods so they will never see the our side world, noise will also catch their attention, something going on where they can her but can not see will still lead them off your place.

I keep a pack of dogs that patrol my place and my peas know that these dogs will not let anything harm them when they go to honking these dogs go see why.

Believe you me Zaz, when we do make the plunge it'll be in the middle of no less than 40 or 50 acres. This is my wife & I's first home, all we could budget for.

I understand i can not imagine what land cost now we paid 1000 dollars and acers and just sold 5 acres to my daughter and son in law for 50 thousand and that was road front property that we could have gotten more for, but i got to pick my neighbors this way LOL even though i can not see their new place from mine.

My daughter has lived across the driveway from me sense 2007 now she is moving up front, i am going to miss seeing her over there but i will get over it LOL
This is their house it is not finished on the outside yet, bless their hearts they ended up firing the contractor for all kinds of stuff, then they found out what a crook he turned out to be and has sense screwed over more folks and it is finely catching up with him, he will be serving prison time for all the stuff he has pulled and he is in his 60's he was a very reputable contractor at one time don't know what happened to him but all of a sudden he started taking advantage of folks..

I am very proud of my daughter she has taking over the contractiong of this house after the fraiming was done and half the brick and stone was done wrong in many places and had to be redone.

she is only 27 years old and her husband works over in Saudi 30 days on 30 days off.

Me too, but with only 40 acres and 1600' of frontage, the road is just too enticing. And I don't think I could handle the flock of geese it would take to protect them.
